In this 3 part course we review the key components of the margin-based approach to managing risk in hog, beef, milk, and crop production.
- Basics of Hedging Using Futures and Options
In Basics of Hedging Using Futures and Options, students will explore in depth the use of exchange-traded derivative contracts to offset risk in the underlying cash market. Topics discussed will include the distinction between a cash market and a futures market, defining market risk exposure, price analysis and the hedge implementation process, managing basis risk, core price risk hedging strategies using futures and options, adjusting hedge positions, and managing position delta.
